Hospice of Chesapeake | Patient Care Volunteer (2018–2021)
From August 2018 to January 2021, I volunteered with Hospice of Chesapeake as a Patient Care Volunteer while living in the United States. This experience profoundly changed my perspective on life, care, and human connection.
Coming from a healthcare and pharmacy background, hospice introduced me to a more deeply human and patient-centered approach to care, one rooted in presence, dignity, emotional support, and compassion.
During this time, I became certified in AromaTouch Therapy, Reiki, and end-of-life support practices. Reiki training, in particular, had a significant impact on my personal growth and spiritual development. Hospice taught me that healing is not always about curing, but about helping people feel seen, supported, and cared for during life’s most vulnerable moments.
This experience continues to shape my philosophy around wellness, reflection, and holistic care today.
